Yvonne Nelson and the Fake Louis Vuitton Case

After being accused of selling fake Louis Vuitton and Gucci bags in her Accra-based boutique in January of 2012, Yvonne Nelson, a popular Ghanaian actress,  still had to face threats of being sued by Louis Vuitton.

So far, Louis Vuitton is said to have lost this court case. Afew months ago, this is what she had to say to the world:

I believe the persons behind these stories have other motives and the way they keep repeating it makes me suspect they want to give my fashion shop a bad reputation just to collapse my business for reasons best known to them. I’m shocked because I don’t even sell Louis Vuitton or Gucci. Any person who has been to my shop can attest to this. I don’t even have more than 5 bags in my shop. All my bags are Aldo and they are sold out.
Ask other persons who sell designer stuff and they would tell you that most people will not like to buy $3000 LV bags if brought them here or $5000 Chanel bag. So when I buy such stuff outside, I use them myself and I don’t come out making noise about my bags like some websites seem to suggest. I only tweeted a picture of my personal bags. People can come and check them out and also check LV website and let see the difference - Yvonne Nelson [January, 2012]

Skin Graft on 3-year-old Toddler Was a Success!

Three-year-old Pippie Kruger who sustained third degree burns to 80 percent of her body, has successfully undergone a Skin Graft at the Johannesburg's Garden City Clinic in South Africa.

Plastic Surgeon, Dr Ridwan Mia said it took longer than they [surgeons] thought and they needed to be extremely careful in removing Pippie's initial dressings. He said the toddler was stable through out the operation and that her dressings would have to be changed every two to three hours.

Dr Mia mentioned that such procedures are usually done in the United States and Europe. In Pippie's case, 90 percent of her skin was grown in a laboratory in the United States and flown to South Africa but in some areas, the skin did not attach to her body. Sheets of her own skin were also taken from her groins and grown for the operation.

The toddler had been hospitalized since a bottle of flammable liquid exploded in her father's hands, leaving her covered in flames at a bar in December, 2011. After six months of staying in the high care unit of the Johannesburg's Garden City Clinic, where the graft was performed for the first time in Africa, Erwin and Anice Kruger [Pippie's Parents] are happy with the success.

These photos show Pippie over the last week.

Ama Konadu Abeberese, Africa's Pride.

Over the years, movie stars have come and gone but Ama Konadu Abeberese is one Africa and the rest of the world hope to honor now and forever. Her acting has taken her places; from being plain Ama, to the silver screens and now, to the 2011 African Movie Academy Awards, where she was awarded the Best Actress.

She has lived most of her life in the United Kingdom, and there she has established herself. Being the star that she is, Ama had to move back the Ghana to see what was out there for her in the world of acting and broadcasting... And I believe she found much more than what was out there!

She has done interviews of Akon, Tony Blair, Ziggy Marley, Rihanna, Harrison Ford, and many other celebrities of our day. TV shows like One Touch and One the Sofa, are two of the shows she has hosted in the past, contributing to her rise to fame globally. Her role in Sinking Sands and That Bird, produced by Ghanaian Director Leija Djansi, made her an even bigger household name worldwide.

Ama K. Abeberese is currently the Head of Productions at Viasat 1, a Ghanaian Television Network and her fan base is continually growing.
