The Dexter's Lab Project on Indiegogo

BACKGROUND
I sure do remember how watching Dexter’s laboratory on cartoon network got me inspired and helped me to a very large extent develop a keen interest in science back in my primary and Junior High school days. Even though we lacked the necessary apparatus to bring certain basic concepts in science to our level of understanding at the time, I still remember how my curiosity and passion for science was ignited making me want to think like a scientist and be like one. Today, this ignited passion has been the reason why I chose to pursue science courses both at the second cycle and tertiary level.

Looking back, I have always wondered what sort of a person I would have been if I had all the specimen, all the apparatus, all the essentials that would make me appreciate science on a more practical level. That would have gone a long way to kindle the flame of my love for science and for the best part, it would have been easy to comprehend at such a young age the seemingly abstract theories and concepts of science with a lasting effect.

WHAT AM I SAYING
All I’m saying is this. There are kids out there especially in this part of the world (Africa) who find it difficult understanding science and hence brand it as difficult because their teachers lack the appropriate materials to appeal to their senses or imagination in order to grasp the concepts of science.

AIM
This project seeks to address this problem by providing a well equipped science lab that can make pupils appreciate the various organ systems of the human body with biological models that mimic the digestive system with its various constituents, the respiratory system, hind limb comparison models of the various classes of vertebrates, osmosis experiment apparatus, simple electromagnetic bells, microscopes and to mention but a few. A full Listing of the various items to be purchased would be posted on the official blog for the project which is thewritingsofaghanaiangirl.blogspot.com

TARGET GROUP
A Primary and Junior High School in Ghana, West Africa called Saint Declan preparatory and junior High School.
I personally believe that with these essentials, the teachers would be able with much ease impart knowledge to the kids and cause an excitement in them which would live with them sparking their imaginations, feeding  their curiosity and igniting their critical and analytical thinking abilities and in the long run affecting  or influencing their future prospects and desires positively.

"My Ultimate desire is to watch this project blossom into “a mango tree”   that is to say an annual affair where every year, some select schools benefit from the seeds that will be sown into this particular project, when the funding Goal is exceeded. Perks will be given out every time without additional funds collected or asked for. Now that sounds like a mango tree to me (sowing once, reaping  an unending harvest every season or year)."
